Rams are sold from each county in the Autum. The society county branch sales
are held at Dolgellau, Llanrwst, Bala and Oswestry. Other Welsh Mountain
Sheep sales are also held at Bryncir and Gaerwen. In September there will be
breeding sheep auctions, these sheep are lively to produce lambs for at least
three more seasons, producing high quality and tasty meat. Many breeders
have their own preferences when breeding Welsh Mountain Sheep while
keeping within the breeds qualities and standards. This leads to a wider variety
in the type of sheep and rams on the autum market, the buyer can choose the
type that is most beneficial to her flock. Farmers have had a lifetime of
enjoyment and satisfaction from breeding this economical and traditional
breed. The breed, society and autumn auctions are an important part of rural
Wales’ agricultural industry.
